Prohibition & Blues

Early access • Priority tickets • Members-only tastings

Opening soon out of Raleigh, North Carolina, our first Venue-in-a-Box brings immersive tasting, storytelling, curated Sips and live programming rooted in blues history into the Research Triangle. We create hospitality experiences steeped in Black legacy, blues tradition and poetic ritual. Every room is designed to feel like stepping into a living archive, where every Sip is a memory, every menu is a map and every moment is curated with intention. We serve resistance with elegance and history with heat through culinary design, founder-led curriculum and immersive storytelling that honors the soul of Black artistry.
Set within the Research Triangle, our space will evoke the spirit of legacy and transformation, carrying the thread of a family story that runs from Ahoskie, North Carolina all the way to this room. Las Vegas remains our long-term flagship destination, the room this whole legacy is building toward, but the story starts here in North Carolina.

“Sip the story. Taste the blues.™”

Who We Are

Prohibition & Blues is more than a speakeasy, it’s a revival. We take the hidden spirit of the 1920s and remix it with the soul of Black excellence, blues and Southern comfort. “Every Sip is a story. Every small bite is a ritual.™” and every room carries the hum of history reimagined. We launch out of Raleigh, North Carolina and the Research Triangle through our Venue-in-a-Box model, a fully licensed operating system for the ritual, the menu and the room itself, alongside our mobile extension, The Roaming Vault. We are here to preserve the past, elevate the present and raise a glass to the future, with Las Vegas as the long-term flagship destination this legacy will eventually call home.

Venue-in-a-Box

Venue-in-a-Box is how Prohibition & Blues comes to life inside a licensed space, without asking an operator to reinvent the ritual from scratch. It hands a partner the whole house: five named zones (The Vault Tasting Room, The Teller’s Window Lounge, The Counting Room Bar, The Banker’s Study and The Safety Deposit Vault), the Sip and small bites program, Curator training and the Operator’s Ledger, a six-phase setup tracker that carries a licensee from Foundation through Opening Night. It’s the model taking this brand out of North Carolina first, before it ever reaches the Vegas flagship.

Ask me anything, about the Sips, the rituals, the story of this house or how to make your evening exactly what it deserves to be.

Ask Her:
“What should I Sip tonight?”
“Tell me about The Velvet Pour Ritual.”
“What makes Prohibition & Blues different?”
“Describe the Delta Reverie for me.”
“I want to join the Inner Circle.”
“What’s on the menu tonight?”
“Tell me the story of this house.”
“I’m hosting an event. How can you help?”

“The room’s been waiting for you.”

Founder’s Story
Jōh-Nae Nicole was fourteen the first time she imagined a place where spirits and food could move people the way music moves the soul. The vision took root watching Chicago, The Godfather, Hoodlum, American Gangster and Speakeasy, films that showed her a world where a room could hold power, danger and elegance all at once. Her passion was never just about mixing Sips, it was always about mixing energy, about creating moments that linger on the tongue and in the heart.
Now grown, with over a decade behind the bar across luxury hotels and high-energy nightlife, Jōh-Nae Nicole has poured more than Sips. She’s poured heart, soul and culture into every glass. Known for her vibrant energy, impeccable work ethic and magnetic hospitality, she turned that decade of experience into a soulful business idea: Prohibition & Blues.
Until recently serving, bartending and managing at Urban Farmer, a Sage Hospitality property, Jōh-Nae Nicole brought farm-to-table charm together with Sip craftsmanship. Her journey runs through Bourbon Blue in Philadelphia, Hilton Garden Inn in Exton, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Atlanta and a stretch as Assistant Bar Manager at Club Blaze in Conley, Georgia. Her true education came behind the bar, in the rhythm of the pour and the pulse of the room and it’s that same rhythm that carried her back to North Carolina, back to the Ahoskie roots of her maternal great-grandmother, Lucy Pearl Roulhac Rippy, to build a house of her own.
Founder bio
Jōh-Nae Nicole, a Black/Puerto Rican single mother, ritualistic mixologist and culinary poet, bridges ancestral memory and modern hospitality. Through her immersive experiences she honors Black legacy, Southern tradition and the sacred act of gathering, each Sip a story, each ritual a reclamation.

Privacy, Protection & Poetic Integrity

Terms & Conditions

Juke Joint Rules (Est. 1920-something; Black Woman Owned & Operated)
1. Welcome to the Sanctum! By entering this digital juke joint, you acknowledge you’re stepping into a space birthed from Black struggle, creativity and triumph. This ain’t just a website, it’s a continuation of the legacy where Bessie, Duke and Robert Johnson turned pain into power, carried now from the Delta and the Piedmont blues tradition straight into the Research Triangle. Act accordingly.
2. No Jim Crow Vibes. Hate speech, racism or disrespect gets you banned faster than a sheriff at a Carolina blues club. We built this space for soul, not supremacists.
3. The Music Is Sacred. Share stories, art and love for the culture but steal our work and you’ll wish the revenuers were your only problem. Copyright infringement means instant excommunication.
4. Age Limit: Grown Folks’ Business!! You must be 25+ to enter, just like the backroom jukes where the real blues played. No exceptions, we don’t need no undercover laws shutting us down.
5. The House Don’t Play (Disclaimers). We ain’t liable for your heartbreak (though we got the playlist to fix it), lost data (blame the tech gremlins, not us) or any sudden urges to quit your job and start a blues band (we support it, though).
6. Privacy Like a Vault. Your info is safer than a moonshiner’s stash, we don’t sell it, trade it or let the Man peek. Unlike some, we remember what it means to be watched.
7. Changes? We Move in Silence. Updates happen like a midnight set change, smooth, necessary and with no warning. Check back or miss out.
8. Disputes? Settle It Like Family. Any issues get handled in-house, not in some crooked courthouse. Mediation over whiskey (or sweet tea) is the Black-owned way.
Final Note: “They tried to shut us down before. We’re still here.™”
Now, grab a virtual seat and let the good times roll.
